Professor Dino Vaira is the author of over 600 scientific publications, many of which have appeared in leading medical journals such as the Lancet, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Gastroenterology. In addition Dr. Vaira is a regular contributor to the Italian Journal of Gastroenterology (SIGE). He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), and the European Association for Gastroenterology & Endoscopy (EAGE). Dr. Vaira, along with Dr. Vakil, has chaired the Maastricht 3 European Guidelines for H. pylori. He is an accredited specialist in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, and has established a series of studies on the significance of Helicobacter pylori in gastrointestinal disease.

Dr. Vakil has served previously on the faculty of the University of Texas in Houston, and at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He trained in Gastroenterology at Northwestern University and received a German Academic Exchange Award for post-fellowship training in Endoscopy at the University of Munich. Dr. Vakil is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians. He has published over 150 articles in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, the American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Archives of Internal Medicine. He has chaired the Practice Parameters Committee of the American College of Gastroenterology and is currently Associate Editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology. His current research interests include gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), H. pylori infection and dyspepsia.
