Influence of Different Eradication Therapies on H. Pylori Recurrence2

A study presented at the 2005 Digestive Disease Week, by Drs. Rodrigues, Faria and Chehter, showed that the best therapeutic response to H. pylori eradication occurred with a combination treatment of a PPI, amoxicillin and clarithromycin. The success rates were 85%, 81% and 74% at 3, 6 and 12 months after eradication, respectively. Double-drug therapies had a success rate of 57%, 45% and 39% at 3, 6 and 12 months, respectively. With a triple-drug regimen, the recurrence rate was only 6% in a span of 8 years.
